You can sleep better tonight because we are happy to announce that we are now shipping with compostable bags!

The bags are made from 100% biodegradable and compostable materials; corn starch, PLA and PBAT (Polybutyrate Adipate Terephthalate). PLA is a bio-based, biodegradable material made from renewable plant material, such as corn husks, rice straw and wheat straw.

After you are finished with the bag the most sustainable option is to cut it up into small pieces and put it in with your food scraps and garden waste. They will break down within 90-180 days in a compost environment, in a non-toxic process. You can even put them in worm farms!

If you don't have a green waste option they can be sent to composting facilities to be properly broken down. You can find them here

Other facts

-They can still break down in water. Although this process takes much longer to break down because of the cooler temperatures.

-They can still break down if they happen to end up in landfill. Unfortunately because of the process it can still contribute to the methane production. That's why it's important to compost of the products to take full advantage of the environmental benefits.

There is always room for improvement when it comes to taking care of the planet, this is just one way we are helping reduce our waste. To learn more about our packages you can find out here:
