Essential Services Consideration Letter

Modibodi is seeking the support of State and Federal leaders to ensure we are recognised as an essential service so we can continue to provide for our valued customers and vulnerable Australians for the remainder of this crisis.

Below is our open letter we have sent to a number of members of State and Federal parliament for their consideration.

Essential Services Consideration | CODVID-19

Modibodi was established in 2013 to provide women with a sustainable alternative to manage periods and incontinence. We also have a range of leak-proof underwear for the one in ten Australian men who experience bladder weakness.

In the wake of supermarket hoarding, single use sanitary items (pads and tampons) have become hard to purchase. Those in isolation are also struggling to access personal care products.

Our high quality, tech-savvy fabrics offer Australians an easy and sustainable alternative to traditional single use products. Our customers not only save money by using a reusable alternative, they aren’t caught short in emergency situations such as the extraordinary times we are now experiencing.

Over the last four weeks we’ve seen a distinct uplift in demand from customers seeking a sustainable and reusable alternative to manage their personal hygiene needs.

We’re also providing free product to several key community groups to support struggling Australians at this time, including:

  • 500 pairs of Modibodi underwear distributed to disadvantaged Australians via Good360
  • 500 pairs of Modibodi underwear distributed to seven shelters that provide crisis accommodation for women who are homeless

These initiatives are a continuation of our work to support those in bushfire affected communities who struggled to access basic sanitary products and the ongoing work undertaken by Modibodi to support vulnerable and disadvantaged Australians.

For example, Modibodi’s Give A Pair program allows customers to purchase a ‘virtual pair’ of undies. Modibodi then donates two pairs of physical underwear to shelters and women in need across Australia. Modibodi has donated over 10,000 pairs of undies to those in need since its inception.

For women and men across the country, not being able to get sanitary items causes unnecessary stress and embarrassment. Eliminating the need to have to purchase sanitary or hygiene products will allow people to focus on the health and wellbeing of themselves and their families.

We are an essential product for hundreds of thousands of girls, women and men globally.

Modibodi is seeking the support of State and Federal leaders to ensure we are recognised as an essential service so we can continue to provide for our valued customers and vulnerable Australians for the remainder of this crisis.
