Modibodi Gives Back

Modibodi’s vision is to build a brand that makes the world better by empowering every bodi to make real, positive change. As part of this vision, Modibodi actively supports causes and organisations close to our heart and that are equally committed to the empowerment of women.

MODIBODI GIVE A PAIR

Modibodi Give a Pair

Domestic and family violence is the principal cause of homelessness for women and their children in Australia. There are thousands of women and young girls living in shelters across Australia, who have little money and consequently cannot afford to purchase feminine hygiene products that most of us take for granted. These women and girls are forced to protect themselves from their monthly period and/or bladder weakness with bits of newspaper, or bulky rags.

Modibodi’s Give a Pair Program aims to provide these women with Modibodi underwear that is sustainable and reusable to empower these women at the times they need it.

For every ‘virtual pair’ voucher purchased, Modibodi will donate two pairs of physical underwear to women’s shelters and women in need across Australia throughout the year.

Give a pair here.

SUSTAINABLE PERIOD PROJECT

“It is time to educate about sustainability. Period.”

When it comes to choosing a sanitary product to manage their flow, studies have shown that the majority of menstruators will continue using the same product that they were introduced to during early puberty. With most schools only educating about disposables, it is difficult to see how our war on sanitary waste can be won.

The solution is the Sustainable Period Project, a collaboration with some of Australia’s and
New Zealand’s largest sustainable and reusable menstrual companies and artisanal communities.
A World-First project of its kind, it’s all about providing schools and health professionals with a free Resource Kit to facilitate discussions about modern sustainable sanitary options. Each kit contains samples of biodegradable disposable pads, reusable period underpants, reusable cloth pads, menstrual cups, videos and activities that can be used for classroom education for years to come. The Sustainable Period Project aims to provide Resource Kits to all secondary schools by 2020.

DAYS FOR GIRLS (DFG)

DFGA’s aim is for every woman in need to have access to feminine hygiene. Part of their work includes encouraging volunteers to contribute towards and produce reusable feminine hygiene kits.

“What if not having sanitary supplies meant DAYS without school, DAYS without income, DAYS without leaving the house? Girls use leaves, mattress stuffing, newspaper, corn husks, rocks, anything they can find…but still miss up to 2 months of school every year. Worse, girls are often exploited in exchange for hygiene. It turns out this issue is a surprising but instrumental key to social change for women all over the world. The poverty cycle can be broken when girls stay in school. Days For Girls oversee (with the help of volunteers) the making and distribution of reusable sanitary kits for these women in need, which directly improve the life of a girl – education, safety and dignity.”
